HAPPY VALENTINES DAY (and everything else)
MONDAY: One thing I do not like is 18 year old male children. We played water balloon capture the flag with the zone. As I am sure you can imagine, I was thrilled to be there. And even more so when some dufus of an elder thought it was a wise idea to chuck one of his special concoction balloons at me. What was inside you may ask? Water. A hot dog. Hot sauce and to top it all off, Inka Kola. I do not like elders. And I was very much not amused.
We had a lesson with P. She gave us a cracker as we left. Culture is so interesting.
TUESDAY: We had a contacting activity with the zone. Eight hours in the sun. I finished a shade darker than when I started.
We really had bad luck this week.
We had a Noche de Hogar with the M. family. Hna Yegros (another missionary from the ward ) made Argentinian pizza.
WEDNESDAY: An interesting day. One of the strangest street contacts I’ve had on my mission. We approached this man in the park who spoke neither Spanish nor English. The first thing he said was “muy guapas” [very beautiful] and I immediately regretted opening my mouth. But I wasn’t about to let him have this until I shared what I came here to say. Then he asked where we were from and is we were from Utah. He told me he loved me. And explained how he loves Utah people because of their many wives. Yeah. We left.
Then we were talking to this big black police guy (not sure which was scarier him or his dog). He was explaining about how Jesus saved him. He was into drugs, alcohol, stealing, the whole shebang. But then he was reading in the Bible about paths of death or something and realized he was on a path to death. He decided to change, with God. And he said, “now look how built I am.” (Sweet man) Meanwhile… someone got robbed at gunpoint because he was talking to us instead of watching the park.
As we were leaving a bird pooped on me, but a ton. It must have been a huge bird. My word. My skirt. My shirt. My face.
Lesson with P. Lesson with H. who speaks English and we were so afraid that he was going to ask us to teach in English. But woo, dodged that bullet.
Had a lesson with F., a really cool lesson. She told us that she told her mom that she chose the Mormons. She said that after 31 years she was so happy to have taken the sacrament and she knew the church was true, and that the Mormons are just good people. We always looked out for her and have been patient with her. Nobody in the Catholic Church did that for her, not even her own siblings. It was really sweet. I was grinning ear to ear like a dufus.
THURSDAY: Passed by our menos active C. (He has a flower shop.) Asked him if we could help with anything, like usual. Expected him to say no, like ususal. Ended up helping him fold fabric for forever while we talked about everything under the sun. My favorite topic: his encounters with aliens and how aliens built Machu Pichu. I never even considered that as a possibility.
Had a lesson with Hna V, without tears, but with tuna fish sandwiches.
FRIDAY: I know we had a lesson with P. because that’s what my agenda says, but I really can’t remember anything about this day.
Something is happening to me. Being a trainer is hard. You suddenly become responsible for so many things all at once. Most of which I have no idea what I’m doing, but you gotta fake it ‘til you make it I guess.
I used to be pretty good at this whole stress thing, but once you start playing with Salvation, yeah. Get’s real.
Pray that I’m not messing it up too bad.
SATURDAY: Disappeared. Funny story. So we haven’t had hot water all week, which really isn’t funny at all. And we called this man to take care of it. Never shows. Hermana Owen prayed that we’d be able to have hot water in our shower. She climbs through this window in a room in our apartment and opens this door and guess what she finds…a bathroom! Can you believe it? We had no idea it even existed. Pray for hot water in a shower, God sends us a whole new bathroom. Miracles, folks. (With hot water).
Had a nice lesson with E.
SUNDAY: Both P. and E. came to church. Unfortunately it was complete chaos together and kinda scared E. P., who I don’t understand, loved it. She’s very timid and doesn’t talk much or anything. I wish I could read people’s minds.
And F. Just as happy as a clam to be there. Asked a few too many questions about the Catholic Church in Gospel Principles.
All in all it was a good week. Sped by. Not sure why.
I have two spider bites. I’m waiting for the Spidey sense.
I’m a little stressed.
I’m very happy. Every time I testify of my Savior, my testimony is strengthened even more. And since I do that a lot, well I know without a doubt he lives. And no matter how stressed, discouraged, overwhelmed, frustrated, whatever I am, I know he knows, for he felt it long before I ever did.
You know I love you.
and miss you.
Love,
Hermana Anderson
